Destiny Hope Cyrus, best known as Miley Cyrus, is an American actress, singer and songwriter, born in November 23, 1992, in Nashville, Tennessee. She stars as Miley Stewart/Hannah Montana in Disney series, Hannah Montana.
Miley Cyrus attended Heritage Middle School but she currently has a private tutor. She is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus and Leticia Cyrus. Miley has an older half-sister, named Brandi, two older half-brothers, Trace and Christopher Cody, a younger brother, Braison, and a younger sister, Noah Lindsey Cyrus, who is also an actress.
Destiny Hope kept all the day smiling when she was younger, that is the reason for her nickname “Miley”, which comes from “Smiley”. She has many pets, like dogs, cats, chickens and horses.
Miley had her first TV appearance when she was 9, playing a guest role, in her father’s TV series “Doc”. Then, in 2003, she worked in Tim Burton’s Big Fish. She also appeared in the music video for “If Heartaches Have Wings”. At the age of 12, Miley was chosen for Hannah Montana due to her energetic and lively performance. She was seen as a person who loves every minute of life, with the everyday relatability of Hilary Duff and the stage presence of Shania Twain. Moreover, Miley had a cameo in High School Musical 2, where she danced next to the pool.
On October 24, 2006, Walt Disney Records released the Hannah Montana Sountrack, which includes eight songs she performed as Hannah Montana. In June 26, 2007, Miley released a double album called “Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus”. The first disc was the second Hannah Montana soundtrack, while the other one was her debut album. It contains ten songs, from which Miley co-wrote eight.

Cyrus was born on November 23, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee to Leticia Jean “Tish” and country singer Billy Ray Cyrus. Her parents named her Destiny Hope because they believed that she would accomplish great things with her life. They gave her the nickname “Smiley”, which was later shortened to “Miley”, because she smiled so often as a baby. Cyrus suffers from a mild heart condition causing tachycardia which, though not dangerous, is often bothersome.
Against the wishes of her father’s record company, Cyrus’s parents secretly married a year after Cyrus’s birth on December 28, 1993. Tish had two children from a previous relationship: Trace and Brandi. Billy Ray adopted Trace and Brandi when they were young.[10] She has a half-brother, Christopher Cody, Billy Ray’s son from a brief relationship, born the same year as Miley; he grew up with his mother in South Carolina. Tish and Billy Ray had two more children, Braison and Noah. Cyrus’s godmother is entertainer Dolly Parton. Cyrus was very close to her paternal grandfather, Democratic politician Ronald Ray Cyrus. Cyrus has paid her grandfather several tributes since his death in 2006, including eventually changing her middle name to “Ray”. According to Cyrus’s father, “A lot of people say Miley changed her name to Miley Ray because of Billy Ray, but that’s not true. She did that in honor of my dad, because the two of them just loved each other to pieces.”
Cyrus grew up on a 500-acre (2.0 km2) farm in Franklin, Tennessee, approximately an hour away from Nashville, and attended Heritage Elementary School. She was raised Christian and was baptized in a Southern Baptist church prior to moving to Hollywood in 2005. She attended church regularly while growing up and wore a purity ring. Cyrus did not seriously consider acting until she was eight.
